Singapore’s First Multi-Ethnic Music Collective
Artusik brings together Nusantara traditions, including Angklung, Kulintang, Gamelan, and ethnic percussion, with Western, contemporary instruments to create new musical conversations in a shared, multi-ethnic ensemble.
To reimagine multicultural music by positioning ethnic instruments alongside Western instruments as expressive, contemporary voices in modern ensembles.
Mission
To be a leading force in shaping a vibrant musical landscape where multicultural traditions thrive, creativity flourishes, and artists are empowered to explore new possibilities
Vision
Cultural Collaboration Through Music
Artusik uses music as a platform for cultural collaboration and soft diplomacy, creating performances that invite dialogue across traditions through shared ensemble practice.
Beyond performances, we engage audiences through hands-on experiences that introduce ethnic instruments, and support partners in sourcing instruments as meaningful takeaways or programme extensions.

Artistic Innovation, Rooted in Craft
At the heart of Artusik’s practice is instrument innovation. Our custom chromatic Gamelan, developed with traditional artisans, expands the tonal range of traditional instruments, allowing them to perform fluidly across multicultural ensembles and contemporary compositions.
Alongside this, we design and adapt hybrid instruments such as the Saronang, extending traditional forms to meet modern creative and performance needs while honouring their cultural foundations.
