Deeply inspired by the teachings of his late mentor, Shahneezar guides Artusik with a mission to transform how Nusantaran music is taught and experienced.

The initiative embraces an inclusive, forward-thinking approach that bridges traditional practices with the evolving cultural landscape of the 21st century—reimagining the role of ethnic music in contemporary society while honoring its deep-rooted origins.

Nabillah Jalal

Co-Founder

Nabillah Jalal is a musician, educator, and community leader. She founded NJ Studio, co-founded ArtSee to provide music mentoring for underserved youth, and is a partner at Artusik.

The first Malay Singaporean to graduate with Honours from the Royal College of Music, she was also a recipient of the Goh Chok Tong Youth Promise Award (Distinction).

Beyond music, she serves on the Boards of Orkestra Melayu Singapura, the Founders’ Memorial Steering Committee, and Anugerah Belia Cemerlang. A recognised youth leader, Nabillah represented Singapore at the G20 Youth Summit (2023) and has been featured in Prestige’s 40 Under 40 (2025) for her leadership and community impact

Nabillah recently received the Total Defence Award.

  • Shyvon is a composer and multi-instrumentalist with a solid foundation in classical piano and Western percussion. Recently graduating from LASALLE College of the Arts with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Music, specialising in Composition and Arranging, she is driven by a desire to push creative boundaries and has embraced unconventional methods like incorporating wine bottles and generative music into her compositions. Committed to continuous artistic growth, Shyvon is expanding her skills as a percussionist while seeking unique approaches to connect cultural heritage with modernity in her creative work.

    While composition remains her primary focus, Shyvon also works as a music educator, where she teaches piano, drums, ukulele, and 'O' Level Music (MEP). In her free time, she explores digital marketing, photography, and film.
    Nabillah is also the co-founder of ArtSee, a multi level music mentoring programme that gives underserved youths access to music education.

    Beyond music, Nabillah also serves the community through roles such as serving on the Steering Committee of Mendaki's Community Leaders Forum Labs, as Language Ambassador for the Malay Language Council, and through grounds-up initiatives for causes such as migrant worker welfare. A recognised youth leader, she also gives voice to National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre Youth Advisory Group and was Singapore’s head of delegation at the 2023 G20 Youth Summit. Nabillah is the first Malay Singaporean to have graduated from Royal College of Music with Honours and was the 2011 recipient of the prestigious Goh Chok Tong Youth Promise Award (Distinction).

    Nabillah Jalal is currently a board of director at Singapore Malay Chamber of Commerce and Orkestra Melayu Singapura and is on the steering committee of the Founders’ Memorial and Anugerah Belia Cemerlang. She is also in Prestige’s 40 under 40 list in 2025.

  • Muhammad Hafidz "Fizzy" is a singer-songwriter, guitarist, and producer whose music blends the vibrant energy of pop, reggaeton, early 2000s R&B, and a variety of other genres. With a sound rooted in creativity and nostalgia, Fizzy draws inspiration from the music of his childhood, reimagining it through modern beats and nuanced vocals.

    His work is a compelling fusion of past and present, aiming to captivate audiences with emotionally rich storytelling. Through songs that delve into themes of love, identity, and contemporary life, Fizzy offers an authentic and deeply personal musical experience. Each track is thoughtfully crafted to connect with listeners who value sincerity and substance in music.

    Fizzy will be graduating with a Diploma in Music from LASALLE College of the Arts in August 2025, where he honed his craft and deepened his understanding of the music industry. In addition to his artistic pursuits, he plays the guitar and is currently understudying Shahneezar in schools as a CCA (Co-Curricular Activity) trainer, gaining hands-on experience while contributing to music education in a meaningful way.

  • Faiz is an experienced ethnic music educator with 15 years of teaching and 25 years of performance in traditional music, specializing in angklung and kulintang. Passionate about nurturing young talent, he has dedicated his career to preparing musicians aged 7 to 17 for public performances, instilling in them a deep appreciation for cultural music.

    Since 2009, Faiz has played a pivotal role in preparing students for the Singapore Youth Festival, helping them showcase their skills and creativity. His commitment to fostering an engaging and supportive learning environment has inspired countless students to pursue their musical journeys with confidence.

    Through his work, Faiz continues to celebrate and promote the rich heritage of ethnic music, ensuring its vibrant traditions are passed down to future generations.

  • Iswandiarjo bin Wismodiarjo, also known as Cikgu Wandi, is a veteran cultural practitioner and educator based in Singapore. He is the fifth-generation leader of Kesenian Tedja Timur and President of Kuda Kepang Singapura (KKSG). He also serves as Vice President (Performing Arts) of the Javanese Association of Singapore. With over 20 years of teaching experience across more than 50 schools, he is dedicated to youth development in traditional arts. At Sri Warisan, he heads the Wayang Kulit and Gamelan divisions, and is also a performing member of the NUS Singa Nglaras Gamelan Ensemble.

Ong Lin Wei

  • Lin Wei is a Singaporean composer, performer, and arranger whose work bridges classical and intercultural traditions. He began violin studies at age four with Mr. Koh Kah Eng and Ms. Lynnette Seah, and later studied piano with Dr. John Sharpley and composition at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts under Dr. Zechariah Goh, alongside oboe and conducting.

    His compositions, which span orchestral and ethnic instrumentation, have been premiered by the Asian Cultural Symphony Orchestra and The Straits Ensemble. His recent project, Rhythm of Unity, blends gambus, pipa, rebana, and tabla into a multicultural soundscape. His most recent composition was played by the Macpherson Philharmonic at Victoria Concert Hall.

    Lin Wei is a recipient of the Wu Tsung Kan Book Prize, 1st Prize winner at the Classical Music Stars competition (Poland), and a finalist in the 2025 International Choral Composition Competition. As a violinist and erhu player, he performs with Orkestra Melayu Singapura, and Braddell Heights Symphony Orchestra.

  • Maegan is a Singapore-based contemporary composer and arranger specialising in orchestral works, game music and intercultural music. She majors in piano and picked up instruments such as the electric bass, guitar, pitched and non-pitched percussion.

    Maegan’s deep passion for Singapore’s music culture drives her to explore opportunities for strengthening and advancing the local music scene. Eager to contribute to the growth and development of the music community of Singapore, she actively engages in research, seeking innovative strategies and initiatives that can foster a more vibrant and thriving musical landscape within Singapore.

    She also have had formal training with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra’s Library team, which provided her with a solid foundation in music preparation as an orchestra librarian. She has worked with composers such as Felipe Lara on engraving and proofreading works.

    She is currently working with NJ Studio as a piano tutor and has had four years of teaching experience.

  • Wei Jie is a passionate musician, conductor, and educator dedicated to nurturing young talent and championing arts engagement across diverse communities. He holds a Master of Education (Music) from NIE and a BA (Hons) in Public Policy and Global Affairs with a Minor in Music from NTU, alongside diplomas in Supply Chain Management and Songwriting.

    A Qualified Trainer with the People’s Association since 2010, Wei Jie has led ensembles at Jurong Green CC, River Valley High School, and NUS High School — earning Certificates of Distinction at SYF 2019 and 2021. He also teaches at Eight Tones Music School and contributes to inclusive music-making through The Purple Symphony.

    Beyond education, Wei Jie collaborates with community and professional groups such as Nam Hwa Opera, SMU, and the Thong Chai Charity Show. His work continues to inspire through education, inclusivity, and artistic excellence.

  • Johnson Lee (ARCM, BMus(Hon), MEd(Music), PB, a former Director of Music for the SAF Band, is an award-winning composer known for his exceptional music compositions and arrangements. His works are frequently showcased at Singapore's National Day Parades and various state ceremonies. Nicknamed “Singaporesousa” for his outstanding contributions to marching music, Johnson has made a significant impact on both the local and international music scenes. Johnson was awarded a Certificate-of-Merit for his contribution towards the  60th Birthday Celebrations of the Sultan of Brunei and an Honorary Doctorate from American Trinity University for his commitment to music excellence and education.

'Akasyah

  • 'Akasyah is a passionate and dynamic Traditional Malay Arts practitioner with over ten years of experience in Kompang and Dikir Barat.

    Beginning his journey at 15, his love for traditional percussion led him to explore other art forms such as Wayang Kulit and Traditional Malay Music, as well as international instruments like the darbuka, conga, and cajón. A dedicated Dikir Barat activist and Wayang Kulit percussionist, Akasyah has performed at prestigious events including Festival Budaya Putrajaya 2023, Lintas Nusantara by the Malay Heritage Centre, and Pesta Raya at Esplanade. He is also active with Sri Setia Pulau Singa in various theatre and music showcases. In 2023, he was awarded runner-up for Paluan Terbaik at Piala Serumpun Rakyat and has led Dikir Barat workshops for schools and community events.

    Known for his energy, humility, and curiosity, Akasyah remains committed to preserving and evolving Malay cultural heritage in today’s artistic landscape.
